The Dali's Current Projects
My very first electric guitar was a 1986 Washburn G10-V, made in Japan.  It is a great guitar with high-quality build, fit, finish, and components.  I bought it in 2003.  It was in pristine condition, but I had always envisioned creating my own electric.  I had a beer bottle collection from college (over 250 bottles from around the world) and decided to use those labels to collage the guitar (and to free up room in the house!!).  Below is the finished product.  It has a topcoat of 25 thin-lacquer coats, hand rubbed.

After a few years - and a few pickups configurations - I've decided to refinish the top-lacquer coats as some of the beer label paper is coming through.  Also, I wanted to remove the old (huge!) top-mount tremolo unit and replace it with a wrap-around bridge.  Finally, the two single coil cavities are not large enough to handle most single-coils, so I am going to route them out slightly so I have more flexibility.  Undecided on the pickups for this project.
The other project I'm working on right now is a standard stratocaster body.  This started life as a licensed Fender Strat body in blue-burst.  Over the years it was HEAVILY used and when I bought it it had many gouges and scratches (but no cracks).  Instead of repainting, I decided to fill the scratches and gouges and collage it with whiskey labels.  So far so good.  This will be top-coated with 20 - 25 hand-rubbed lacquer coats.
